Today In A Day

Well since this week has been rather uneventful I will write about the only thing that is of any interest to me lately. MY VACATION TO ARUBA! Not that I am counting or anything, but I leave in 25 days. This weekend I spent my time shopping! I got a killer deal on a Samsonite suitcase at TJ's, new bathing suits, and some other much needed things.
I seriously can not wait to be laying by the ocean and drinking delicious fruity drinks and tanning. Most mostly I am excited to escape reality for a week. Although my blog is rather uninteresting right now, just you wait until I come back and have pictures to post! It is the most beautiful scenary, with the cutest wild goats. Trust on this, they may be gross and flea infested, but if you are a safe distance awaym they are cute!

Well signing off for now!

Who Am We?

MUDs, what are the real problem's that they could have? Someone gets to pretend to be someone they are not, and if they get satisfaction out of it, who am I to argue. Although some of the negative aspects may out weight the positives. In my blogs I refer to myself as Princess Peach, but the difference between me, and someone who might be deeply engrossed in the MUD personality, is that I do not believe that I am her.
People use the Sims and other simulation programs to create a life that they could never have. The movie Avatar would be an example of living out a lifestyle that is not yours, but you are acting it out. Just like in the movie it can get taken to far, and the lines between reality and fantasy become blurred.
The users real identity can only be determined by the user. Some may be creating a personality to live out their desire that they could never maintain in their actuality. While others use their digital identities to 'release steam', and create something so rediculous that they know it could never live up to their physical being.
But the real question, is it wrong to live through your MUD character? Does this create a breeding ground for anti-social kids to grow and never live in the actual world and experience their life?
Think it over buckos.

Princess Peach Goes on Vacation

Hello all from the land of fun and games. Today in Mushroom Land Goomba took a serious wrong turn and ended up completely getting burnt by Bowser's fire breaths. It's completely amazing how I, Princess Peach, can come out of a situation completely unscathed, but my fellow friend Luigi always seem to get the short end of the stick.

Mario was on his power trip again trying to control the level. You mine as well have put him and Bowser Jr in a coin battle together because there was no telling who was coming out on top. Bowser Jr kept running, and jumping, and completely making a mess of the entire Mushroom Kingdom, and Mario was not having it.
But once again, I just sat there, and stared out the window waiting for someone to come and save me like always.

Today of all days i knew no one was coming to my rescue, so I had to rely on myself. I took it upon myself to sit and complain about how mucky it was getting with all of Bowser Jr's hot air being blown around, but he continued to talk. Mario was no help, he kept provoking Bowser Jr.

Finally, Luigi came to my rescue with a mini mushroom. Life was good again.

How the Internet Changed Education

The internet has dramatically changed the way education is obtained and even nurtured. Before the internet some people were not even able to go to college. With the creation and availability of the internet now almost anyone who wants to can take a college class, and get an education to make their lives better.

People who are in school now can further themselves by having knowledge at their fingertips. They can look anything up online that they want to and access information 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is more beneficial making students more independent and making information easier to access, without the hassle of going to the library.

A downside is the lack of reliance a student may have towards their teachers. Instead of going to their educators for information, they can just Google it, or research a problem and find the answer themselves. Much like having to take a computer class and have a teacher teach you about websites, when you can go a website to learn about it.

Mario Time!

My name is Jaclyn. I am 22 years old. From here on out will be referring to my work as Koopa’s Castle in order to refrain from upsetting anyone who might read this blog and know of the environment I am talking about. My aspirations are to get through college and hopefully be able to beat all the levels in Mario Galaxy by the time I am 30. I enjoy playing Mario. That does not mean I enjoy all video games, just Maro. At Koopa’s Castle we have to wear name tags with tag lines that represent who we are as people. Mine says ‘Mario and Luigi Are My Homeboys’, this should be a pretty good indication of the type of person I am.

Let’s start this blog out right and introducing the characters that are in my life, each will obviously have the appropriate nickname given. Ladies and gentleman, children of all ages here is the cast list of my life:

My Boss who will be played by Bowser

The Assistant Manager played by Bowser Jr

The Associates who will be played by Toad and Yoshi

My saviors as always who are Mario and Luigi

And the horrid enemy Goomba

I of course will be Princess Peach the damsel in distress that is in constant need of saving.

This is just the beginning of our amazing journey together through the Mushroom Kingdom. Until next time eat a super mushroom, collect some coins, and avoid any Hammer Bros! Many interesting adventures to come.

iPad and Education

The iPad was said to revolutionize the way we read books today. Although it does have the iBook store, the other features make it nothing more than a glorified iTouch. Most of the spec are the same minus the obviously size difference with the iTouch coming in at 3.5’’ on the diagonal, to the 9.7’’ screen width of the iPad. The specs are better in the iPad but this is something that you would expect in the next generation of the iTouch no matter what. The lightweight feel of the product is definitely a plus with it coming in at 1.5 pounds, and it is only a hair thicker than the 3Gs phone. This allows for light portability if you carry a duffle bag purse or brief case with you everywhere you go.

The iPad’s biggest downfall is no multitasking abilities. You would think that if Apple was trying to have a full monopoly over everything they would be able to fix their one major problem. The gaming, audio, and even the visual quality of the device are incredible but when you are running out the door are you going to grab your iTouch which comes in at around $199 or a tablet twice its size which comes in around $499? The versatility between the two products is minimal, but it leaves the consumers wondering if Apple slapped their logo on a rock and called it the iStone would it sell just as well.
